The 15th International Congress of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy which held in Vancouver, British Columbia from June 2-7, 2007 presented an opportunity for Nigerian physiotherapists from around the world and Nigeria, who were in attendance to meet.
The Nigerian PTs, especially those who currently reside outside Nigeria were briefed on the state of affairs back home by the Chairman, International Affairs of the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy (NSP), Ms. Gloria Umerah. Ms Umerah asked for all to support the NSP, the host of the 7th WCPT Africa Region biennial conference to be held in Abuja, Nigeria in August 2008. At end of the meeting, the Nigeria Physiotherapists, especially those practising outside Nigeria gave commitments to give maximum support possible to the NSP and colleagues back home.
The Nigeria Physiotherapy Network is pleased to note that subsequently, joint efforts by the NSP and the Canada Naija PT Network (as they later referred to themselves) led to the following accomplishments:
The Nigeria Physiotherapy Network encourages such co-operative gestures between Nigerian Physiotherapists at home in Nigeria and those in the Diaspora.

- Nigerian Journal of Medical Rehabilitation was published online with help of members present at the WCPT Canada meeting
- WCPT Africa Region website was put online with full Conference/Online Abstract Submission Management System
- Members worked with the NSP to secure sponsorship for the WCPT Africa Congress in Abuja to the tune of at least $15,000.00
- Some members promised to fully participate and attend the WCPT Africa conference in Abuja, Nigeria. (Drs. Akinwuntan and E.B. John both from the USA and Dele Amosun of South Africa attended the Abuja Conference in August 2008)
